Sarawak's Ambitious Vision for 2030: Transformative Development and Social Welfare Initiative

KUCHING-All development projects and social welfare programs funded by the Sarawak government are expected to be successfully implemented by 2030, particularly under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

This confidence was expressed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who announced that a Mid-Term Review of PCDS 2030 would be conducted next year.

He explained that the review aims to assess the success of programs and projects under PCDS 2030.

“I am confident that all infrastructure projects, water supply projects, initiatives to upgrade Internet connectivity, and social welfare programs funded by the Sarawak government will be successfully realized by 2030," he stated.

“High-impact projects are also being planned, including a Deep-Sea Port and a new International Airport in Kuching.

“In addition, the modern agriculture sector will be accelerated through the use of advanced technology,” he said in his 2025 New Year’s address today.

Abang Johari also highlighted that 2025 will serve as a preparatory year for the Sarawak government to introduce free tertiary education, which is slated for implementation in 2026.

Additionally, he expressed hope that the efforts to implement the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12) would be further enhanced next year to ensure all listed projects are successfully executed.

“Next year marks the final year of RMK12 implementation.

“I sincerely hope that efforts to execute RMK12 in Sarawak will be strengthened next year to ensure all listed projects, especially physical developments, are successfully completed for the benefit of the people,” he emphasized.

The Premier further expressed pride in Sarawak’s achievements throughout 2024, attributing them to the cooperation, unity, and hard work of its people.

“In 2025, let us renew our resolve to advance Sarawak toward a prosperous, harmonious, and inclusive state.

“With various ongoing and upcoming development initiatives, I am confident that this state can thrive through sustainable and forward-thinking policies,” he said.

He urged all levels of society to unite in ensuring that every Sarawakian benefits from development, regardless of background, religion, or ethnicity.

According to him, the spirit of unity cultivated over the years serves as the foundation of Sarawak’s strength in facing challenges and achieving success.
